Intact frames: If the window frames are in good condition and not leaking, you can save money by only replacing the glass unit.

Measurement: A glazier will measure the existing glass unit to order an exact replacement. The new unit will be custom-made to the correct thickness and dimensions.
Installation: The technician will remove the internal or external glazing beads that hold the unit in place, lift out the old glass, and fit the new one. This is typically a quick and clean process.
